ERCO, the Light Factory, relies on retrofit expert TGW and will be modernising its logistics centre in Lüdenscheid, Germany. The automatic warehouse installed by TGW has been in use for 13 years and shall now be revitalised for the future.
ERCO GmbH, Lüdenscheid, is a leading company in the lighting industry. Since 1998, the German company has been operating an automated tray warehouse implemented by TGW. The 8-aisle warehouse is operated in two shifts and supplies ERCO's production at the Lüdenscheid site with small parts. To guarantee the functional operability and performance of the automated warehouse for another decade of service, ERCO placed an order with TGW Systems Integration GmbH for an extensive modernisation of the existing facility.
The retrofit measures within ERCO's logistics centre include complete retrofitting of the electrical and mechanical equipment of the eight TGW Mustang stacker cranes in the tray warehouse as well as modernisation of the two sortation storage systems and complex connecting conveyor system. "We will carry out the modernisation work in two main steps, using a time slot in which ERCO uses the installation on a very low level to guarantee no disruption to warehouse operations", explains Werner Weißböck, retrofit specialist in TGW's sales team. "In addition, we will install an ESX high-availability server system to guarantee maximum availability of the servers for the next couple of years."
