TGW strengthens software competency with TGW Software Services

A new member for the TGW family: TGW Software Services in Germany
Harald Schröpf, Managing Director at TGW Logistics GroupHarald Schröpf, Managing Director at TGW Logistics Group In a successful logistics system, every component has to act in concert with the others. TGW offers their customers special and unique systems with standardized modules – individually designed for the respective requirements. Now, one element is added to the TGW family: TGW Software Services. Take a well-planned logistics system, assemble the mechanics, add controls and refine the system with a sophisticated software. TGW produces logistics treats - still it is all about further development, new inventions and the right ingredients for a successful system.   During the past years, TGW worked closely together with Klug Integrierte Systeme (Klug IS) from the German town Teunz. Whether as a supplier or customer - TGW was a competitor and partner, and together Bestseller, Weltbild, Jack Wolfskin or Kaufland were reached by the logistics master combination. In July 2014, the time had come: two became one. The TGW-Group acquired the company Klug IS and expanded their software competencies. The newly established TSS secures the outstanding perspectives for all employees at the site in Teunz, ...
...which are further developed in the core competencies of automation technology and IT - iWACS, as well as the fact that existing and steady customers have a reliable and long-term partner. And this is the basis for future success in the TGW Group.” "We already knew Klug and their way of working with these colleagues. We knew their competencies regarding their software iWACS and appreciated their developments. We were quickly interested in the acquisition and wanted to secure this unique know-how of the product and the experienced team," explains Harald Schröpf, Managing Director of the TGW Logistics Group. "We at TGW can offer an excellent IT product development and invest a lot in our software. With the acquisition of Klug IS we can fulfil the requirements of the market in a much better way than before, and we can offer projects with our own IT and automation technology (AT); therefore significantly reducing additional purchases outside of the Group."

iWACS and Commander under one roof

At TGW, there are several single products creating a perfect system for our customers. Now, further products are added, which enable us to try out even more combinations in the entire system for our customers. "The new IT product iWACS does not compete with our Commander software. Rather we will use the excellent approaches of both platforms to provide coordinated answers to special requirements in the market. We focus on two software platforms which we offer our customers," says Harald Schröpf.   Jürgen Roithmeier, Ramp-Up Manager Controls at TGW Logistics GroupJürgen Roithmeier, Ramp-Up Manager Controls at TGW Logistics Group
Standard meets Innovation - make it a 'Best Of'!
TGW Mechanics Controls provides a high degree of standardization, TGW Software Services defines itself through innovative and flexibly designed solutions. The mix of both, at first sight contrasting ways of working, opens new perspectives for the TGW Group, says Jürgen Roithmeier, Ramp-Up Manager Controls at TGW Logistics Group. The common long-term experience, the successful projects, the great software product and competent employees let Klug integrierte Systeme become "TGW Software Services" and at the same time become an enrichment to the existing portfolio. "We need to consider our customers' requirements and the market prerequisites. These two aspects can be covered together with TGW Software Services, plus automation technology plays an important role. This expansion of our portfolio is extremely important for the success of TGW!"

Structural optimizations

The business model of the former Klug integrierte Systems is changing. TGW Software Services concentrates on features in the areas of IT and AT as well as After Sales Services with existing customers. The systems integrator business, the planning and realization will be integrated into the existing TGW entities. "The competency in the systems integrator field of TSS will be united with those of TGW Systems Integration. The long-term systems integrator experiences of the former Klug IS is an obvious win for us!" says Harald Schröpf. Furthermore, there is a focus on the existing customers who should feel confident despite the structural changes. "The existing customers are as important as the acquisition of new customers. We can demonstrate our competencies in the long term, and Klug IS has already done that for a long time. We just follow up on this success." Erich Juraske, Head of IT Product Development at TGW Software ServicesErich Juraske, Head of IT Product Development at TGW Software Services
For the site in Teunz, the acquisition is an absolute assurance, furthermore the focus on the software is very important and a great decision.
The long-term collaboration with TGW has proven to be a great advantage in the integration phase. The first synergy potentials between Commander and iWACS are approached pragmatically. This will lead to significant savings in the development," says Erich Juraske, Head of IT Product Development at TGW Software Services. An extensive integration team currently focuses on these topics. All functional areas are included in the integration of TGW Software Services. "Integration does not mean to just include a new company in our Group. It means mutual understanding of how the others work and to find the right organization and internal processes. Considering the circumstances, we need to slowly approach each other. The integration is planned in a way that all major functions are covered. There is one contact person in Wels and another one in Teunz at TGW Software Services," knows Harald Schröpf.

Chances for the future

The integration of the new entity offers many challenges for the people involved, yet also many chances for the future. In order to establish a new logistics menu, all courses and ingredients need to act in concert. "The integration of TGW Software Services is a great opportunity for all of us. TGW is a company that is pointed towards success and this is supported by strategic measures. Success is exhilarating - for every single employee! This fusion is something very special. It is about stability, new, exciting projects, a solid, reliable and demanding collaboration. We have a clear strategy, a recipe for success and we are on the right track. Not only due to the integration of TGW Software Services!" tells Harald Schröpf. Peter Ehrenhuber, Director Realization at TGW Logistics GroupPeter Ehrenhuber, Director Realization at TGW Logistics Group
My task in the integration team is the inclusion of the systems integration project management into the TGW Group.
The aims of the new TGW Software Services differ from the former Klug IS aims, thus many internal processes change. We will integrate a number of these processes into TGW Systems Integration. The IT and AT realization as well as Lifetime Service and the Change Management are the core processes," says Peter Ehrenhuber, Director Realization at TGW Logistics Group. The internal feedback for the integration is consistently positive. Even the Managing Directors of the single TGW entities are excited about the acquisition of the new TGW subsidiary. "It is the right step for us and our future!" says Harald Schröpf. "Without IT it is not possible, strategic goals require this competency. The acquisition of Klug IS is a further step on the way to excellence in the logistics software!" Harald Schröpf is sure. With the TGW Software Suite that has grown in its portfolio and functionalities, we are now able to compose the various ingredients for individual menus and the positioning in the market.
