TGW and PSI Work Hand In Hand For HECO

Inventiveness, ambition and quality were the key to success of German screw manufacturer HECO. Nowadays, HECO ranks among the leading manufacturers of screws and fastening systems for the wood-working industry, concrete and metal construction industry as well as heavy-performance fixings. To be able to cope with the future growth and meet the growing demands on modern logistics, HECO is installing a new logistics centre at their Schramberg site. Project partner TGW will equip this centre with an automated material handling system.

General contractor TGW Systems Integration GmbH based in Wels, Austria, is working closely with PSI Logistics on implementing the entire storage and order picking equipment including warehouse management at HECO. Besides a pallet high-bay warehouse and an automatic mini-load warehouse, the system comprises extensive controls and software components implemented by TGW and PSI in HECO's logistics centre.

In an automated de-palletising area including a TGW Splitex machine the cartons are descrambled and afterwards stored in a 3-aisle automatic mini-load warehouse including Mustand Evolution cranes with Twister load handler. The solution is implemented with TGW Commander and CI_LOG material flow control system. In addition, two TGW Magnus cranes handle pallets in double depth in the goods receiving buffer and automated pallet high-bay warehouse.

The warehouse management system will be implemented by project partner PSI Logistics and is included in TGW's scope of supply. Furthermore, the PSI Transport Control System will be used to control the in-house transports. PSI's scope of supply also includes the required radio frequency terminals, the interface to HECO's host system and to TGW's material flow control system as well as the PSIwms archiving system.

The total order value amounts to 3.4 million Euros, go-live is scheduled for summer 2013. Apart from the system investment, the customer ordered a comprehensive service package which will ensure long-term functional reliability of the new installation.
