Spring Lake, Michigan, June 14, 2012 – TGW Systems, a leading material handling equipment and integrated logistics solutions provider, announced that the company has opened a satellite office in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This new office is the North American home of the software and controls engineering group for TGW.
TGW designs, builds and installs advanced automation equipment and solutions to help a company’s supply chain. The company is based in Wels, Austria, with its North American headquarters in Spring Lake, Michigan. Some of its customers include Fastenal, Adidas, Petco, and Gap.
Over the past few years, TGW has been expanding the company’s North American software development as part of a global software development effort. “As we were bringing on more and more developers, we discovered that a large proportion of them were coming from Grand Rapids, and not from the Lakeshore where TGW is located,” said Mario Herndl, president of TGW. “It only made sense to look to Grand Rapids as we investigated expanding our software development efforts.”
The office is headed by Kevin Tedford, TGW’s VP of Integration Technology Services. “The software and controls element is an ever-growing facet of our automation solutions,” said Tedford. “As we grow our development and project teams, having an office closer to a larger city such as Grand Rapids will give us access to a larger pool of software and controls engineers.”
The new office, located at 660 West Cascade Parkway SE, Grand Rapids, currently employs 15 people, with plans to double the staff in the coming year.
