TGW Logistics Group has submitted a planning application for the construction of a new UK head office at Peaker Park in Market Harborough, Leicestershire.
As a leading supplier of automated materials handling solutions for warehousing, production and distribution operations, the company has enjoyed impressive growth in recent years.
In 2007 the company launched its UK operation with just three employees and a turnover of £275,000 (347,000 Euros or 425,000 US Dollars). Five years on and the number of employees has increased to over 80 and the turnover for year ending June 2011 was in excess of £30million (37 million Euros or 45 million US Dollars). Having outgrown its current premises on the same site, TGW believes the offices will play an important part in supporting the company’s growth plans going forward.
If planning consent is given, the 12,000 sq ft building will provide a modern and comfortable environment for employees. Primarily these are employed in sales, business development & marketing, design & project engineering, project management and Lifetime Services roles.
In addition, TGW is currently in the process of recruiting school leavers to embark on its successful apprenticeship scheme. Five engineering apprentices aged 16-17 will be joining the company this year, working from the Market Harborough offices and studying at a college in Leicester for one day a week.
The four-year scheme covers practical skills as well as software and electrical design to provide apprentices with valuable skill sets with which to develop a career in engineering. With offices throughout the world, TGW will offer unique long-term opportunities for the newcomers.
Subject to planning permission being granted, it is anticipated that TGW will become one of Market Harborough’s largest employers. As such, the company will play an important role in the local community.
Phil Steeds, sales director at TGW said, "In line with our growth plans, we are committed to establishing a positive presence in the town. As well as providing a significant jobs boost for the area, the apprenticeship scheme is designed to foster young talent to benefit the company, and the individuals, now and into the future."
